Alice Bob Davis

Lafayette – Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012, 11:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Alice Bob Davis, who died on June 27, 2012, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Services will be conducted by Father Thomas James, S.V.D.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Alice, a child of God, was baptized as a member of the Catholic faith at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Barre, Louisiana, where she received her communion and confirmation sacraments. She was a faithful member of Lewis Temple C.M.E. Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Missionary Society of New Orleans, and former active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, and EUTHU Service Organization.

Alice worked in food service for Lafayette Parish Schools at Paul Breaux and Alice Bouche Elementary Schools. She also worked as a caterer and an Amway Salesperson for several years.

Enjoying life was important to Alice. She enjoyed helping and caring for family and friends. She loved traveling. Alice visited some interesting places such as Niagara Falls, New York City, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Orlando. One of her most memorable trips was to the Grand Canyon. Additionally, Alice was an avid sports fan. Her favorite teams and athletes were the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, Northside Vikings, Tiger Woods, and Venus and Serena Williams. She often attended Atlanta Braves games on her visits to Atlanta. Most importantly, Alice had fun.

Alice leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Frances Davis Shaw of Lafayette, Louisiana, son-in-law Charles Shaw of Houston,Texas, three grandchildren, Spencer Alexander (Melanie) of Lithonia, Georgia, Stephanie Shaw of Atlanta, Georgia, and Todd Shaw of Lafayette, Louisiana, four great-grandchildren – Solomon Antwine, Drexal Alexander, Khyree Alexander, and Kolbe Alexander, Brother-in-law, Edmond Zeno of Lafayette, Louisiana, Sisters-in-law, Josephine Bob of Scott and Ethel Gage of Lafayette, Louisiana, niece-daughters Phileamon Bob, Patricia Bob, Amy Bob, Ella Howard, Helen Wiltz, Barbara Bob, Rose Senegal,Verna Woods, and Debra Bob, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Davis, parents, Adam and Orelia Zachary Bob; six brothers -- Joseph “One” Bob, Benny Bob, Adam Bob, Jr., John Bob, Joseph “Nathan” Bob, and Morris Bob; six sisters -- Mary Bob Butler, Emily Bob Brown, Irene Bob Woods, Helen Bob Stone, Rita Bob Zeno, and Angelina Bob Honeycutt; and one great-grandson, Conrad Alexander.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 2, 2012, at Syrie Funeral Home from 7:00am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Greater Acadiana Food Bank.
