Cleveland Joseph Harris, Sr.

Broussard - Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Cleveland Joseph Harris, Sr., 55, who passed away August 7, 2007 at his residence. Fr. Dismas Mauak, SVD will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Harris worked in the oilfield for 28 years. He was employed with Noble Drilling Co. for 13 years and took early retirement due to his battle with cancer. He was president of the Usher Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Peter Claver #115.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Emelda Roy Harris; three children, Trudy Harris of Lafayette, Cleveland Harris, Jr. (Delana) of Broussard and Farrah Harris (Wayne) of Broussard; eight grandchildren, Bradley Harris, John Malbrough Jr., Destiny Harris, Faith Harris, Cleveland Harris III, Fallon Derouen, Tyler Harris and Trinity Harris; eleven siblings, Edith Harris, Rosa Francis (Paul), Joseph Thibeaux, Ada Boudreaux, Veloria Chaisson (Joseph), Valarie Beinvenu, Jewel Broussard (Don), Bernetta Marks (Bryant), Phillip Thibeaux, Sandy Thibeaux and Lasha Thibeaux and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Wallace Thibeaux and Virginia Harris and a niece, Yvonne Monique Simon.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Lafayette General Oncology Staff and Dr. Cole’s oncology staff.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 at Syrie Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 8 a.m. until time of services.
